Body

My Self-Portrait series is embracing my body as it is in the present moment by releasing the work of trying to conform to cultural expectations. Referencing Venus Figurines I’m manifesting health and denying the weight bias and medical gaslighting I have faced.

These works are made with wool roving, the soft, raw product of wool before it’s spun into yarn. The material embraces the softness that is needed in allowing our bodies to change, develop and love what they love.

You do not have to be good.

You do not have to walk on your knees

for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.

You only have to let the soft animal of your body

love what it loves.
